The Alumni Art Award 2024

Established in 2019, The Storm King School Alumni Council accepts nominations for exceptional artistic contributions and achievements by Storm King School alumni in the arts.

The 2024 recipient is Kun-Han “Henry” Wu, Class of 2009

Henry is a digital designer and photographer based in San Francisco and the founder of TIMID Magazine (https://www.timidmag.com/).  TIMID is an independent lifestyle magazine exploring the stories and beauty of the Asian community.  Henry’s work has been featured in Men’s Health, Vogue Italia, People Magazine, L’Officiel, Elle Singapore among others.  Henry was the 2009 Spy Rock Cup recipient and attended the California College of the Arts, earning a BA in Industrial Design.

The SKS Sports Hall of Fame 2024

 The Storm King School Sports Hall of Fame recognizes exceptional athletic achievement by Storm King School alumni, coaches, athletic directors and teams. Inductees who have a distinguished record in athletics and dedication and commitment to exemplify the core mission and values of The Storm King School.

The 2024 inductees are:

Henry Hudson, Jr., Class of 2004

Henry was a student athlete in swimming and golf, integral to re-starting the SKS golf program and playing for four years on The Storm King School team. Henry swam independently for the Marist Fox USA Swim Team from ages 12-18 and set local and national records in multiple events at every stage in his swim career. He was recruited full ride by the University of Washington where he was captain of the swim team. He qualified for the Olympic Trials his senior year. Several of Henry’s collegiate swim records still stand today. Henry attended Seattle University for a Master’s in Educational Administration and served as assistant coach to the men’s and women’s swim teams there. Henry was an honors student at SKS all four years, received English and History Awards, was the recipient of the Headmaster’s Cup.

James Lulves, Class of 1969

James “Jim” Lulves was the captain of the baseball team and an outstanding player in basketball. He played varsity for three of his four years at SKS and earned the batting trophy his junior year. Jim bounced home runs over the maples to on top of Spy Rock, with better than a 400 percent slugging average on a team that went 10 and 2 with one of the losses to a college team. With outstanding character and leadership, Jim was a fair-minded and mature leader. He went on to play college level baseball.

 Bailey Rodgriguez, Class of 1989

Bailey was the captain of both the basketball and baseball teams and was known as the best player on the basketball team since he arrived on campus as a freshman. Bailey excelled at sports and his teammates all learned from and looked up to him. Bailey’s leadership extended well beyond the athletic field. He was held in high regard among his peers and was one of the first people to welcome new students to campus. Bailey was a Resident Assistant, named “Most Popular” in his yearbook’s Senior Superlatives, and was Athlete of the Year.
