The Storm King School · Financial Aid

We invest in promise, not price.

The right school shouldn't hinge on the sticker price. Each year Storm King commits millions in need-based aid so that talented students can climb — whatever their family's circumstances.

Cost should never decide who gets to climb.

Storm King financial aid is need-based: grants — never loans — that don't need to be repaid, awarded to families who need help meeting the cost of a Storm King education. We assess need through Clarity, one secure application shared across the schools your family applies to, and aid is decided together with admission. If cost is your worry, apply anyway. Let's find out what's possible together.

Six simple questions, a realistic range in about a minute — no logins, no lengthy forms, no commitment. It's an illustration, not an offer, but it's a good place to start.

These figures estimate what your family might pay toward tuition after need-based aid — not the aid itself. This is an illustrative estimate only. For your family's actual award, Storm King uses the Clarity financial aid platform as our guide — one secure application that helps us determine need-based aid, decided together with admission.

New Students · How to Apply for Aid

Three steps, alongside your application.

Applying for aid runs parallel to applying for admission — start whenever you begin your application.

1

Indicate your interest

On the admission application, simply note that you intend to apply for financial aid. That's all it takes to open the door — and it never counts against your child's chances of admission.

2

Complete the Clarity application

Fill out one secure Clarity application online. Based on the financial information you provide, Clarity uses a standard calculation to help us understand your family's need.

One secure form, entirely online.

3

Send your tax documents

Upload your required tax documentation directly to Clarity — not to Storm King. Your information stays secure, and we review it as part of the admission decision.

Returning families: re-apply through Clarity each year by December 1. Aid decisions arrive with your re-enrollment contract in late March.
International Families

Aid crosses borders, too.

Families applying from outside the United States are welcome to apply for need-based aid through the same Clarity application. A few extra documents help us understand your family's circumstances:

  • Your most recent home-country tax returns
  • Proof of income

Not sure what applies to your family? Jennifer handles enrollment from overseas every day — I-20s, visas, and aid included.

Common Questions

Financial aid, answered.

Does applying for aid affect my child's chances of admission? +
Applying for financial aid does not count against your child in the admission process. Indicate your interest on the application and complete the Clarity application — we consider both together, with your student's fit and promise front of mind.
Is Storm King aid need-based or merit-based? +
Storm King aid is need-based. Awards are grants — not loans — that never have to be repaid, and they are sized to help families who need support meeting the cost of tuition. In 2025–26 we awarded nearly $3.2 million to 84 students, with an average grant of $30,766.
What is Clarity, and why do you use it? +
Clarity is the secure platform Storm King uses to assess financial need. You complete one application and can share it with every Clarity school your family applies to — no repeating the same paperwork. Based on the information you provide, Clarity produces a standard calculation that guides our award. Learn more at clarityschools.com.
When are financial aid materials due? +
New families should complete the Clarity application while applying for admission — the earlier the better, as aid is finalized alongside the admission decision. Returning families re-apply through Clarity each year by December 1, and receive their aid decision with the re-enrollment contract in late March.
Do you offer aid to international students? +
Yes. International families apply through the same Clarity application, with a few additional documents (your most recent home-country tax returns and proof of income). Jennifer Boerke, our Associate Director for International Enrollment, can walk you through it — jboerke@sks.org.
I need help with the Clarity application. Who do I contact? +
Clarity's own support team can help in English and Spanish at support@clarityapp.com. For anything specific to Storm King — deadlines, documents, or your award — reach me directly (details below).
