The trees are ablaze with color, the days are cooler, and flocks of Canadian Geese can be heard flying over Storm King Mountain as they make their way south for the winter. Autumn is here and our students are getting in the spirit through various fall-themed activities.

For example, several student-volunteers stepped up to decorate Orr Commons for Halloween. Bales of straw, cornstalks, and hand-painted pumpkins now adorn Ledoux Terrace and the Gazebo, and the dining hall is filled with spooky décor including cobwebs, spiders, and more. Cohorts also had a chance to compete in the School’s 1st Annual Build-A-Scarecrow Contest to win a Make-Your-Own-Sundae Party. Several groups created scarecrows from clothing and materials they had or gathered on the campus grounds. Congratulations to the winners who created the scariest scarecrow “Gary.”

Now, sights are set on the School’s Halloween costume contest which will take place on Friday, October 30. All faculty and students, whether studying online or in-person, are encouraged to wear their costumes to school or send in a photo wearing their costumes at home. Costumes will be judged in various categories and the winners will receive prizes including gift cards and “dress down days.” It’s sure to be a “spooktacular” event!
