The Storm King Experience — E.E. Ford matching challenge
The E.E. Ford Challenge

Turning a $50,000 grant into a $100,000 investment.

Dear Storm King Community,

We recently shared the exciting news that The Storm King School had been awarded a $50,000 Traditional Grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation to help launch The Storm King Experience, an initiative that expands experiential learning and prepares students to lead with confidence, creativity, and purpose. Today, we're excited to share that, thanks to the incredible generosity of our alumni, parents, families, and friends, we are nearly halfway to our goal. Together, our community has raised more than $22,000 toward the $50,000 matching challenge, bringing us one step closer to unlocking the Foundation's full investment.

Your Support Makes a Difference

The Storm King Experience will provide students with opportunities to:
  • Engage in hands-on, project-based learning
  • Conduct environmental and field research
  • Develop leadership and teamwork skills
  • Solve real-world challenges through innovation and design thinking
  • Learn in the collaborative spaces of the new Irving and Muriel Fischer Academic Center
These experiences will prepare our students not only for college, but for meaningful lives of purpose and leadership.

Help Us Cross the Finish Line

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has already supported this challenge. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to participate, there's still time to make your gift and help us unlock the remaining match. Together, we can turn a $50,000 grant into a $100,000 investment in the future of Storm King students. Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping create transformational learning experiences for the next generation of Storm King students.

With gratitude,Lisa ShambaughHead of School

A note to our community

The Storm King Fund

We're within reach of the finish line

Dear Storm King Alumni,

Today is the final day to make your gift before the close of our fiscal year. Thanks to the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends, we have reached nearly 90% of our Storm King Fund goal. We're within reach of the finish line, and your support can help us get there.

Every gift to the Storm King Fund provides immediate support where it is needed most — expanding financial aid, strengthening academics, enriching student life, and creating the transformative experiences that define a Storm King education.

As a member of the Class of 2009 and now Director of Development, I know firsthand the lasting impact a Storm King education can have. My time on the Mountain shaped who I am today, and I am grateful for the opportunities made possible by those who invested in students like me. Today, I have the privilege of helping ensure that current and future students can experience that same transformation.

Together, our community has accomplished so much this year. We celebrated the groundbreaking of the Irving and Muriel Fischer Academic Center, launched the Student-Managed Investment Fund, welcomed alumni back to the Mountain for an unforgettable Reunion Weekend, and connected with alumni and families across the country and around the world. Everywhere we've gone, we've been reminded that the Storm King community is united by a shared belief in the power of our School.

Every gift, regardless of size, brings us one step closer to our goal and sends a powerful message of support for today's students. Thank you for believing in Storm King and for continuing to invest in the next generation of students.

Warmly, Sarah Fulton '09 Director of Development
A new student initiative

The Storm King Student-Managed Investment Fund

Dear Storm King Community,

At Storm King, we are encouraged to think boldly and turn ideas into action. With that spirit in mind, we are proud to introduce a new initiative created entirely by students: The Storm King Student-Managed Investment Fund.

This fund is more than a classroom exercise. It embodies our core values, teaching real-world financial literacy, disciplined decision-making, and intergenerational stewardship. Under the guidance of our experienced faculty advisors, Mr. Rushdi Siddiqui and CFOO Mr. Andrew Smith, students will analyze market opportunities and make informed investment recommendations for a real investment portfolio — applying research, risk management, and ethical leadership principles that will serve them for life.

All trading activity and the execution of any investment decisions will be carried out exclusively by designated school officials, ensuring appropriate oversight and alignment with the School's educational mission. Guided by the principles of prudence, purpose, and long-term sustainability, the fund will follow a disciplined investment strategy that includes diversified domestic ETFs, analytically selected equities, and high-quality fixed-income instruments.

The fund is intended to serve both as an educational experience and a lasting institutional resource. To support the fund's ongoing activity, a portion of annual returns may be reinvested to support the continued growth of the fund, while another portion may be directed to support scholarships, academic innovation, campus enhancements, and student-led initiatives.

We are seeking $10,000 in founding contributions and invite you, our most dedicated supporters, to help bring this vision to life. Your gift at any level will help establish a sustainable program that fosters student growth, experiential learning, and long-term impact. As a supporter, you will receive annual updates on portfolio performance, student learning outcomes, and the initiatives your support makes possible. Together, we can create a meaningful and enduring opportunity for students.

*When making your gift, under "Designation," please select Student Managed Investment Fund.
