Roy Leadership Series (RLS)
Roy Leadership Series (RLS)
IN HONOR OF, PATRICK ROY ‘99
RLS is a series created to provide student-directed and student-hosted leadership events throughout the academic year, facilitating the exchange of ideas and the discussion of principles related to the unique challenges SKS graduates will face as leaders in our modern globalized world.
Among the activities the series comprise are visits, lectures, seminars, trips, and films. Participants who visit range from college-age leaders/mentors only a few years older then SKS students; to academics who study leadership; to leaders in business, government, and non-profit organizations. The RLS complements other SKS efforts such as athletics, clubs, Student Council, experiential learning events, and the Model UN.
The series is named for Patrick Roy ‘99, a Storm King alumnus who was killed while serving in the Navy during a terrorist attack on the USS Cole in Yemen less than a year and a half after graduating. He was only 19 years old at the time of his death. A natural born leader, Storm King commemorates the life of Roy each year on October 12 – the day of his passing.
