The Storm King School is pleased to welcome several new faculty members into our diverse and global community for the 2018-2019 school year. Along with their professional qualifications, all of our newcomers offer something unique to our vibrant faculty roster.

Daniel Stapleford joins us as a Mathematics teacher. Mr. Stapleford earned his BS at Temple University, majoring in mathematics and literature. He brings nearly 10 years of tutoring experience in nearly all areas of high school and collegiate math. Mr. Stapleford will reside in Dempsey Hall as a dorm parent.

Megan Liggett is a new, dynamic member of the Visual Arts faculty and head-starting Storm King’s Fashion Design curriculum. Ms. Liggett received her MAT in Art Education as a certified PreK-12th-grade art teacher and BA in General Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Ms. Liggett will live as a dorm parent in Highmount House.

Timothy Gillett joins us as an ESL teacher. Mr. Gillett graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in International Studies and earned a Masters in American Studies from Trinity College. He received his ESL training from the Boston Language Institute and has taught ESL at the middle school, high school, and university levels. Mr. Gillett brings a wide range of coaching and travel experiences to SKS and will reside in McConnell House as a dorm parent.

Lindsay Myers Brown joins our theater program to teach Theater Tech. Ms. Brown graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam with a degree in Theatre Education and has an MAED in Special Education from Ashford University. She loves working with students and watching them discover their passion for the arts and helping them grow and learn.

Martha Kwon joins SKS as our college counselor, as well as a teacher in the History & Social Sciences Department. Ms. Kwon has a BA in History and Secondary Education from the University of Virginia and her MEd in College Counseling from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has lived and worked in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan and her career has included positions in college admissions, secondary college advising, and athletics.

In addition, Dr. Gene Murphy joined the School’s full-time residential faculty and will live in Spy Rock House as a dorm parent this year. Dr. Murphy taught Freshman Physics at Storm King in 2017-18 as a part-time instructor, as well as the spring 2018 Q-term course on Computer Engineering. Dr. Murphy has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University and brings more than 20 years of professional engineering experience and several years of teaching experience at the high school and college level to Storm King.
