Hyde Park, NY

The Storm King School is proud to announce that junior Asia Raacke ‘19 graduated from the prestigious Girls Leadership Worldwide (GLW) program held at the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill in Hyde Park, NY this summer.

Asia was one of the 50 girls chosen for the program out of over 2,500 applicants. During the program she met the CEO of Mogul, an international networking platform for women, attended a dinner with “Accomplished Women Leaders” at the Yale Club hosted by three of Eleanor Roosevelt’s great, great granddaughters, met a spokesperson for UNICEF at the United Nations, and an executive from Glamour magazine to name a few.

GLW is a 10-day transformational program for high school girls who demonstrate leadership potential in their schools and communities. During the program participants from across the world of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds come together to acquire the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to exercise leadership rooted in the courage, compassion, and perseverance modeled by Eleanor Roosevelt.

GLW features interactive workshops, presentations, discussions, and other hands-on training in specific leadership skills, including public speaking and team building. Its goal is to empower girls to make a difference in their own lives, communities, and the world and transform them into principled and socially conscious leaders. “Self-Expression and Social Change,” “Public Speaking,” and “Finding Your Passion and Purpose” were some of the workshop topics. The girls also had the chance to meet inspiring speakers, and took field trips to important locations in New York City.

Congratulations Asia!
