The fall semester is officially underway at The Storm King School, and the Cougars are off to a great start. With after school teams and clubs back in person this year, the main athletic field and gym are filling up with coaches and students ready to hone their skills, while other groups can be seen practicing on the rest of campus or heading into Black Rock Forest for some hiking and exploration.

In the varsity sports lineup this year, students will compete on the boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country, and girls volleyball teams. For those who prefer to stay fit in a non-competitive environment, Co-ed Fitness, Recreational Tennis, and Outdoor Adventure are the activities of choice. According to Athletic Director Dr. Nicole Cervantes, all the rosters are large and everyone is excited to participate and ready to build up some school spirit.

“After such a long period with no competition and limited practices, building back ‘Storm King Spirit’ is not only important for our student-athletes and teams, but for the entire community,” explained Dr. Cervantes. “To help the Cougars and their fans along, we have launched a new line of SKS sideline gear this year. Students, parents, coaches, faculty– everyone will have a lot of new options and great designs to choose from. Our goal is to see everyone dressed in our school colors as much as possible after classes, and at games and school events.”

“The Cougars’ first games will take place on September 15 on our home field with Boys Varsity Soccer vs. South Kent School at 2:30 pm, and Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Faith Christian at 4:30 pm. I hope to see a huge group of fans turned out in blue, white, and gold to help cheer them on.”
