During these cold winter months, there is no better time to focus on college placement, especially for Storm King School juniors and seniors. Director of College Counseling Dan Constantinidi stresses that January and February are the best months for students and families to discuss possible career paths and make plans to visit potential colleges and universities over the upcoming spring and summer breaks. To support them in this process, Mr. Constantinidi has planned several presentations and workshops throughout Semester 2.
“Through these workshops, the Class of 2025 will begin early preparation for the upcoming college application season. From general college search information to more specific training in subjects such as the college essay and the college visit experience, the junior class will come away with all the tools necessary to start drafting college application materials over the summer and be well-prepared to apply in the fall of 2024.
As Semester 2 progresses, Mr. Constantinidi will also work individually with students to help them create a course of action appropriate for their grade level. “Our aim is to encourage students to have thoughtful discussions with their teachers and advisors, the College Counseling Office, and their parents regarding their future aspirations,” he explained.
For Storm King’s senior class, the excitement is already building with news of early decision and early action acceptances beginning to arrive from prestigious colleges and universities including Yale, Hobart and William Smith, NYU, Parsons, Purdue, Penn State, Cal Arts, University of New Haven, Drexel, Seton Hall and others. “There is a lot more good news to come. Our student-led approach to college placement is key to our students’ success, and it shows in our college acceptance record each year. Ultimately, as in other areas of their lives, it is the student who drives the process and puts in the work. We are there every step of the way to give them the tools and guidance they need,” explains Mr. Constantinidi.
