Mr. Carruthers is Chairman of The Storm King School’s Visual Arts Department and teaches various levels of art instruction and an interdisciplinary course in Global History and Art at SKS. He has taught in public and private schools in New York City, Yonkers, and the Hudson Valley. He previously taught Art History at Mercy College and conducts a yearly printmaking workshop at the Art Students League in New York City. In 2020, Mr. Carruthers was awarded the Riley Cup from SKS that acknowledges a member of the staff and a student who has contributed to the school’s community ethos in practical and creative ways. During the summers, Mr. Carruthers teaches for the Artists Association of Nantucket where he was awarded the Randy Goldberger teaching award in 2014 and the mixed media award for his printmaking in 2013. He exhibits his works in various galleries in the Hudson Valley and Nantucket, Massachusetts.
