As the fall season progresses, the Cougars are advancing in their HVAL league schedules, practicing their skills, and settling in on the pitch, court, and field.

Girls Varsity Soccer enjoyed a winning week after traveling to Marvelwood on Wednesday, September 21. The Cougars rallied for the entire match, cruising to a comfortable 4-9 victory over the Pterodactyls. Senior Elena C. ’23 scored 5 goals, followed by Arianna L. ’24 with 3 goals, and Aleena S. ’23 with 1 goal.  Next up, the Cougars will host the Oakwood Lions on Saturday, September 24 at 1:30 pm on the main field.

After gaining valuable team experience on the pitch during their first week of competition, the boys varsity soccer team continued to work on their skills when they hosted EF Academy on Saturday, September 17.  It was another tough match for the Cougars who fought hard but ultimately fell 8-3 to the Storm’s relentless pressure on the goal. With a week-long break from competition, the Cougars will be back on the pitch and striving for a win when they travel to Oakwood Friends on Wednesday, September 29 to finish out the month.

The girls varsity volleyball team played twice this week bringing home mixed results. The Cougars hosted Oakwood Friends on Saturday, September 17 where home advantage brought them to a 0-3 win over the Lions with some excellent serving and consistent play at the net. Their fortune changed when they traveled to Harvey on Wednesday, September 21. Despite some excellent play, the Cougars lost some momentum against a strong opponent ending with a score of 0-3. The Cougars have now set their sights on a second win over the Lions when they travel to Oakwood on Saturday, September 24.

The JV volleyball squad played one game on Saturday, September 17 hosting Oakwood’s JV Lions team. Despite their 0-2 loss, our players gained valuable court experience which will help them prepare for redemption when the Cougars face Oakwood once again on Saturday, September 24 on the road.

The boys cross country team enjoyed a win at their first invitational of the season on Saturday, September 17 at Faith Christian Academy . The following Wednesday, September 21, the harriers kept the momentum going, gaining another win at the Oakwood Friends Invitational. The Storm King boys captured 4 places in the top 10, with Edward I. ’23 in 1st place (18:52) and Kayan M. ’23 in 2nd place (20:10) followed by Vincent I. ‘24 in 6th (21:16) and  Marquise S. ’25 in 8th (22:11). The SKS harriers will run again when they host the Storm King Invitational on Wednesday, September 28th at 3:30 pm.

The girls cross country team also traveled to Faith Christian Academy on Saturday, September 17 for their first meet of the season where they gained valuable experience on the course. At the Oakwood Friends Invitational on Wednesday, September 21, Marisa C. ‘24 placed 2nd out of 19 runners with a time of 23:12. Next, the SKS girls will have home advantage on their side when they co-host the Storm King Invitational on Wednesday, September 28 with the boys team.
