The Storm King School community prepared for the first day of the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival on Friday, February 16, 2018, with artwork, lanterns, and dumpling-making! Students in Mrs. Hecht‘s ESL class spent Wednesday and Thursday afternoon working with Chef Andrew and the dining hall staff to make traditional steamed dumplings. The students had fun as they worked stuffing the thinly-rolled dough with mixtures of meat and vegetables.

The dumplings were served at lunchtime on Friday, February 16, along with miso soup, braised bok choy, and rice to commemorate the first day of the Chinese New Year. The dumplings were tender and delicious, and a great way to help the entire school community participate in this important celebration along with students from China and all over the world.
