The excitement continues as the Cougars move into their February competition schedules, with the wrestlers advancing to their league championship tournaments this month. Storm King also congratulates two of its senior student athletes who committed to play their sports at the collegiate level. Michael S. ’23 will play men’s soccer for the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers and Daysha S. ’23 will play women’s basketball for the Dominican University Chargers this coming fall.

Girls Varsity Basketball traveled to Westport, Connecticut to play the Greens Farms Academy Dragons to tip off the month of February. The team demonstrated consistent skill and excellent play throughout the game, but ultimately the Dragons led by 10 points at the final buzzer, ending with a score of 50-60. Next up, the Cougars will host Winchendon on Saturday, February 4.

After their exciting win at Marvelwood, 58-44, to close out the month of January, the boys varsity Cougars took their winning momentum with them when they traveled to Darrow to face the Ducks on Wednesday, February 1. According to Coach Cook, “It was a good team win where all 11 players saw significant playing time.” The Cougars ended the day with a winning score of 78-52 and their spirits high as they get ready to tip off against South Kent on Saturday, February 4.

Following a month of mixed results and a winning streak to close out January, the JV Cougars tipped off February hosting the Darrow Ducks on Wednesday, February 1. Both teams played well and kept the score close throughout the game. The Cougars’ winning momentum and home advantage prevailed allowing them to edge out the Ducks, 32-28, toward the final buzzer. The Cougars will play again on February 8 when they host the Oakwood Lions.

The SKS wrestlers have finished their regular schedule and are moving on to the Hudson Valley Athletic League (HVAL), Western New England, and New England tournaments in February. Details are still emerging from their first HVAL quad tournament with NYMA, Marvelwood, and Woodhall held at Woodhall on Wednesday, February 1. If the Cougars fare well, they will go for the league trophy when they host the HVAL championship meet on February 15.
