Ms. Erika DeVaughn and Ms. Barbara Wood

Storm King has welcomed two new teachers to its faculty ranks this fall– Ms. Erika DeVaughn and Ms. Barbara Wood. Ms. DeVaughn will teach Psychology and ESL, and serve as a dorm parent in Cottage, while Ms. Wood has joined SKS as a Math Teacher.

Ms. DeVaughn earned her BA in Psychology from Samford University and an MS in Sports Management from Florida A&M University. She is also working to complete her TESOL Certification from Anaheim University this fall. Before arriving at Storm King, she spent two years at Stony Brook University as an Athletic Academic Advisor and Tutor Coordinator, followed by two years at Temple University as an Athletic Academic Advisor. Most recently, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery and Cornwall School Districts here in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Ms. Wood completed her BA in pure mathematics from Cornell University, with a concentration in Psychology and Education, and soon after began teaching at the Poughkeepsie Day School (PDS) – a pre-K-12 independent school located in her home town of Poughkeepsie, NY. Over her 38 years of experience there, Ms. Wood has taught all levels of math from Grade 5 through Multivariable Calculus and served as a department chair and registrar.

Join us in welcoming Ms. DeVaughn and Ms. Wood to the Storm King community!
