It was another exciting week for Storm King Athletics with two of our wrestlers moving on to compete at the national level, the boys varsity basketball team hosting Storm King’s Mid-Winter Invitational, and the boys JV hoopsters continuing their winning streak.

On Saturday, February 15,  eighth-grader Elijah Graziosi and senior Noah Mendlewski traveled to New Jersey’s Blair Academy to successfully compete in the NY/NJ/TN National Prep Qualifier for wrestling. Both boys have now qualified for the National Prep Wrestling Championships to be held on Friday, February 21, at Lehigh University. Noah finished in fourth place at Qualifier by defeating his opponent from Peddie School.  Elijah qualified for the Nationals by winning the NY State Tournament at 101. He must now jump up to 108 where he wrestled well, but lost to wrestlers from St. Benedict’s Prep and Princeton Day School. All this while the wrestling team prepares to defend their league title on Wednesday, February 19, at 2:30 pm in the SKS gym when the Cougars host the HVAL Finals. The Storm King wrestlers are looking to close their season undefeated in the conference and bring home the HVAL Championship Trophy for the 7th time in 9 years.

SKS’ Rashad Ramserran was named All-Tournament high scorer with a combined 42 points, including 27 points in the Final.
