After a successful orientation and the first week of classes, students at The Storm King School spent their first full weekend together on campus. To make sure everyone had a memorable experience, faculty and staff organized a series of events, activities, and trips that kept the level of fun and excitement high.

Saturday’s Parents Welcome Luncheon

On Friday, September 6, the fun began with several shopping trips for much-needed clothing and supplies, including a trip to an Asian market. At dusk, students returned for a welcome bonfire and s’ mores on the lawn near the Art Center. Saturday, September 7, was a busy day for the entire school community. While parents were socializing on Ledoux Terrace at the annual Parents Luncheon, the boys varsity soccer team played their season opener vs. the Darrow School on the main athletic field. During the rest of the weekend, students enjoyed several more shopping trips, bowling, an outdoor movie under the stars, and a trip to cross the scenic Walkway Over the Hudson on foot.

Weekend activities like these are coordinated through the Office of Student Life and have become an important part of the Storm King experience.  In the coming months, students will have many options to choose from including trips to New York City museums and landmarks, outdoor adventure trips or overnights, community service opportunities, recreational and social outings like the popular “Coffee Shop Tour” and many others.
