The Storm King School Boys Varsity Basketball team travelled to West Hartford, CT over the weekend to participate in the 56th annual Paul “Frosty” Francis Kingswood Oxford Invitational. The tournament featured 8 quality teams from throughout New England and New Jersey, and was a great way to cap off the first part of the season. On Friday afternoon the Cougars lost a close contest to Class C rival Winchendon School 60-49. The loss meant the team had to rebound quickly and take the court Saturday morning to face Class A Kent School – a game won by SKS 50-45. In the consolation final the Cougars avenged a loss in the same tournament last year to Class B Westminster School by taking over the game in the closing minutes and winning 63-49. The weekend featured great efforts from many players and the tournament committee named co-captain Kolby Braxton a 2nd Team All-Tournament performer. The Cougars enter the holiday break at 7-2 and poised to make a run at the Class C Championship when they return after the new year. photo cred: Mrs. G
