The Storm King School is proud to announce that a member of the senior class has been named a Commended Student in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP). Jae Hyun Kim ’20 has received this important recognition for his exceptional academic promise along with approximately 34,000 other Commended Students throughout the nation.
Commended Students are those who placed among the top 50,000 scorers of the 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
At The Storm King School, Jae was recognized by faculty and his peers on Wednesday, October 2, during an All-School Assembly in the Walter Reade Jr. Theatre.
