Based in Cusco (Cuzco), Peru, several SKS students and faculty are spending this Thanksgiving Week helping Peruvians and learning about their ancient culture and land. Here’s a sample of their scheduled activities:

  • Monday, November 23rd – Tree Planting – students will plant queunales trees in the community of Misminay.
  • Tuesday, November 24th Misminay Project – students will join local residents of the Urubamba Valley in their daily tasks, e.g. plowing and harvesting.
  • Wednesday, November 25thToy Making Project – students and local youth will make toys out of recycled materials. Several of the best will be entered into the Oxfam Quebec international competition!
  • Thursday, November 26th Macchu Picchu – on Thanksgiving Day (U.S.) students will visit this most famous Incan ruin and UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Friday, November 27thBike Tour – students will become better acquainted with the landscape by biking from the village of Huasao to Pikillacta and back to Cusco.
  • Saturday, November 28th – A tour of the capital Lima will round out the Peruvian adventure.
