Spring has arrived at The Storm King School and the whiteboards in the College Counseling Office are filling up quickly with college acceptances for the senior class. “Members of the Class of 2021 are sharing their acceptance news in person, over Zoom, and by e-mail. As is the Storm King tradition, the college names are going up on the whiteboards whether the students write it themselves, or ask me to do so,” explained Director of College Counseling Dr. Marti Kwon.

According to Dr. Kwon, the bar was set high by last year’s graduates who moved on to some of the nation’s most prestigious universities and art colleges, and this year’s roster is already impressive. To date, acceptance letters received include Penn State, Fordham, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Syracuse, Michigan State, Indiana University, Bard College, The New School, Eastern Kentucky, University of Wisconsin, Pace University, University of Massachusetts, York College of Pennsylvania, University of San Francisco, Ohio State, University of Maine, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Howard University, California Institute of the Arts, Savannah College of Art and Design, SUNY Stony Brook/Albany/Fredonia/New Paltz/Delhi/Purchase/Plattsburgh, and many others.

“I’m very excited for the senior class as the acceptances continue to roll in. The circumstances continue to be challenging this year, but our students rose to meet the challenges. The personal attention we provided throughout the fall and winter via Zoom and in-person helped everyone stay informed and on track, but the students did most of the work. I can’t wait to see what other schools will appear on the whiteboards this month. With so many excellent choices, the next challenge for the seniors will be making their final decisions by May 1,” continued Dr. Kwon.
