We are very excited to welcome everyone back to the Mountain for registration and orientation, and to begin another school year together! It has been a busy and productive summer on campus, with exciting progress on several important initiatives and projects as we prepare for the year ahead.

The new Irving and Muriel Fischer Academic Center is taking shape and remains on track to open in late fall or early winter. The roof is on, the walls are framed, the windows are installed, and interior construction is now underway. We are excited to see this much-anticipated new space come to life and look forward to the opportunities it will provide for our students and faculty. We have also refreshed the reception area of the Administration building with new paint and furniture, along with a number of other updates and improvements across campus. Even with camps and programs taking place throughout the summer, our facilities team has worked tirelessly to keep the campus beautiful and ready for the year ahead.

 

 

Our Admissions team has been equally busy, enrolling 179 new students from 23 countries and connecting with prospective students who may one day join our community. You may also have noticed that our website has received a complete refresh, thanks to the hard work of our Marketing and Communications team. In Development, we have already received $27,500 toward our $50,000 matching E.E. Ford grant—a wonderful start. As shared in previous announcements, these funds will allow us to enhance and expand our experiential education offerings while providing specialized furnishings for the new Fischer Academic Center.

Behind all of these efforts is a tremendous amount of work by our faculty, staff, and administrators to keep the School moving forward throughout the summer and to prepare for the arrival of our students. I am deeply grateful for their dedication and for the many ways they contribute to the strength and vitality of our community.

 

As we look ahead to the new school year, we have also made some thoughtful changes to the leadership structure of our Academic and Student Life programs, informed by two years of listening to faculty, students, parents, and staff. These changes are designed to strengthen the support we provide to our students and to the faculty and staff who work with them every day. I look forward to seeing the positive impact of this work in the year ahead. We are also embarking on the second year of implementing The Storm King School’s Strategic Plan: Enduring Strength, Limitless Possibilities. Stay tuned for more updates on how the Strategic Plan is guiding our progress, and shaping our future planning.

We are excited about all that is taking shape on the Mountain. From the continued progress of the Fischer Academic Center to the many improvements across campus and the thoughtful evolution of our programs, there is a great deal to look forward to. We are eager to welcome you back and to begin this new school year together.
