Wet conditions have affected practices and competitions moving into May with only three Cougar teams posting scores this week. During their final month of play, the Cougars will continue to work hard to close out their seasons on a winning note.
The boys tennis team was on the SKS courts once this week, serving against Oakwood on Wednesday, May 3. It was an easy win in straight sets, 9-0, for the Cougars in both singles and doubles play, extending their winning streak well into the spring season. The boys will have a week to practice before traveling to Marvelwood to face the Pterodactyls on Wednesday, May 10.
After several postponements, the SKS baseball team competed twice this week with mixed results to kick off May. On Monday, May 1, the Cougars traveled to Oakwood’s diamond to face the Lions. The Cougars fought hard, scoring 4 runs early in the game, but were overcome by the Lions’ strong pitching and line-up at the plate, ending the game with a 4-12 loss. After a one-day break, the Cougars were on the road again to bat against Faith Christian Academy. This time, their determination and grit prevailed, giving the Cougars a win 8-6 over FCA. Storm King hopes to keep up their winning momentum when they travel to Greens Farms Academy on Saturday, May 6.
The undefeated Ultimate Frisbee team added another win to their roster when they hosted Oakwood on Thursday, April 27. The Cougars cruised to a 15-8 score over the Lions in their 3rd match-up this season. Next, the Cougars will travel to historic rival NYMA on Saturday, May 6.
