The fall semester at The Storm King School is off to an exciting start, and the Cougars are making their mark! All six fall teams have sprung into action, with each settling into their competitive schedules.

Kicking off September, the boys’ varsity soccer team participated in a competitive tournament at Rocky Hill School. After a tough opening day against Kent Hill, they regrouped on Day 2 to secure a solid victory over Wheeler JV. The following week, the Cougars hosted Watkinson on their home turf, showcasing their skills and determination to earn an impressive win. They continued their momentum with two more victories over Marvelwood and EF Academy, despite facing setbacks against Wooster and Oakwood. The boys’ JV team also made a strong debut, claiming a decisive win over Woodhall.

The girls’ varsity soccer team has also hit the pitch running, beginning their season with a successful scrimmage against Wooster. With two weeks of intense practice, they carried that energy into their first match at EF Academy, where they emerged victorious. Their winning momentum continued hosting Oakwood, where the Cougars cruised to a resounding win over the Lions.

Also in September, Cross Country made a strong showing at the Oakwood Invitational, with the girls finishing 2nd and the boys finishing 3rd overall. In addition, several SKS runners took part in the Village of Cornwall’s Motive 5K Race, demonstrating their commitment both in and out of competition. The SKS harriers brought their winning momentum to the Storm King Invitational the following week where the boys finished 2nd overall led by Josh M. ’26, Liam M. ’27, and Antonio M. ’26 as SKS’ top 3; and the girls finished 1st with Sophia L. ’26, Liz U. ’26, and Lin V. ’26 as the Cougars’ top three.

The girls’ JV and varsity volleyball teams also kicked off their seasons in September traveling to Harvey and EF Academy, and playing their first home game versus Wooster. Although their first games proved challenging for the Cougars, both teams gained valuable experience and refined their skills on the court.

With a few more games to go to close out September, it’s shaping up to be a thrilling season for Storm King Athletics!
