Friday, May 1 is National College Decision Day and despite the widespread changes to the college admissions landscape due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the excitement of our senior class is at its peak. This historic graduating class has faced many challenges over the past several months, but Storm King’s Office of College Counseling is pleased to announce that their roster of college acceptances and commitments is impressive once again this year. “The class faced many hurdles and constantly changing parameters due to the recent crisis, but they’ve succeeded in having one of the best college acceptance records in the history of The Storm King School. I’m extremely proud of them,” explains Director of College Counseling Dr. Marti Kwon, who is very pleased with their accomplishments.
With graduation right around the corner, Dr. Kwon reports that most of the seniors have now confirmed at one of their top-choice schools, and several will attend the most prestigious colleges in the nation and around the globe in the fall. “College acceptances have been steadily coming in since December. Several members of the Class of 2020 applied early decision and were accepted,” continued Dr. Kwon.
Notable early commitments include NYU Stern School of Business, NYU Tisch, Wake Forest University, Berklee School of Music, and The George Washington University. Seniors have also received offers of admission from several UC campuses, including Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and San Diego; Belmont University, Cornell University, DePaul University; SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Stony Brook, and SUNY Binghamton; University of Rochester, The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Fordham University, Wellesley College, Washington University of St. Louis, Tufts-SMFA, The University of Chicago, University of Connecticut, Pace University, Penn State, University of Miami, University of Sydney, University of Toronto, Vassar College, University of Virginia, and University of Washington.
