October is the peak for fall foliage and the height of fall athletics at Storm King. From the fields to the courts to the trails, the Cougars have made the most of fall competition. As October comes to a close, our teams have experienced victories, personal achievements, hard-fought losses, and continued growth.
Boys Varsity Soccer Builds Momentum
Boys Varsity Soccer enjoyed a particularly strong month, earning victories over Marvelwood, NYMA, Olivet, and Oakwood Friends. The Cougars turned in several decisive performances, including a 10–2 win over Marvelwood and a shutout against NYMA early in the month. They continued that momentum with additional wins over Oakwood Friends and Marvelwood, followed by another shutout victory over NYMA. A scoreless draw against King School was also a highlight of a competitive October schedule.

Girls Varsity Soccer Shows Determination
Girls Varsity Soccer faced a challenging schedule in October, taking on several tough opponents throughout the month. The Cougars played two particularly close contests against EF Academy and Westover, falling 2–1 and 3–2, respectively. These matches highlighted the team’s ability to stay competitive and battle through challenging stretches. With a rescheduled matchup against Forman coming up in November, the team has another opportunity to put its hard work into action.

Both girls volleyball teams experienced a busy October, with opportunities to build skills, strengthen teamwork, and test themselves against a range of opponents. Girls Varsity Volleyball recorded wins over Marvelwood, Oakwood Friends, and Harvey School. The five-set match against Harvey was a memorable contest, with the Cougars pulling through in the deciding set.

These opportunities are helping the team build a strong foundation for future seasons.
