As spring brings new life and color to the season, the Spring Dance Recital blossomed into an evening filled with music, movement, and emotion. Under the direction of Dance Instructor Jeanette Jacobson, students took the stage in a performance that showcased their hard work and creativity through a wide variety of musical styles and dance performances.
Dancers included Zikai Steven J. ’26, Jiann L. ’26, Nina U. ’26, Son N. ’26, Juliana D. ’27, Kyler W. ’27, Charley K. ’28, Charlie M. ’28, Kira S. ’28, Rikki E. ’28, Mercedes C. ’29, Angela C. ’29, Lorelei D. ’29, Evie T. ’29, Reese Marie V. ’29, Nayoung Y. ’29, Ziqi Alice Z. ’30, and Mila K. ’30. Each brought unique talent to the stage throughout the evening’s 21 dance numbers.

The evening opened with a heartfelt tribute to the Senior Dancers of 2026—Zikai, Son, Jiann, and Nina. Mrs. Jacobson shared emotional words of pride and gratitude as she honored the seniors for their dedication, growth, and lasting impact on the dance program. Their featured performance, “We’ll Pick Up Where We Left Off,” set a meaningful tone for the recital and reminded the audience of their friendships and memories created through dance.
The recital featured an engaging mix of contemporary, lyrical, pop, rock, and international-inspired numbers. Emotional performances such as “Sorry,” “Take Me to Church,” “Unsteady,” and “Bring Me to Life” highlighted the dancers’ storytelling abilities, while upbeat routines including “You Can’t Stop the Beat,” “Rock Around the Clock,” and “Boom Boom Bass” energized the audience. Solo and duet performances gave dancers an opportunity to shine individually, including memorable pieces like “Lost Star,” “Rise Up,” “Fly Away,” and “Somewhere Only We Know.”

Mrs. Jacobson reflected on both the talent and level of maturity of her students following some last-minute changes to the program: “I am so proud of the way these dancers handled the changes with professionalism and grace! Some students stepped in to learn completely new routines and almost all of the dancers were affected with formation and group changes. They rose to the challenge and performed with confidence. I am so proud of the way they all shined onstage!”
Behind the scenes, the production was supported by Technical Director Eliza Brown and the dedicated tech crew, including Keiyona J. ’26 on sound, Yi Y. ’26 on spotlights, Conghan Eric W. ’27 on lighting, Selina Z. ’28 backstage, and Evan Y. ’29 on spotlights.
The Spring Dance Recital was a celebration of talent, dedication, and time spent on the Storm King stage. From heartfelt ballads to high-energy routines, the show reflected the spirit of spring itself — full of color, growth, and new beginnings.
