After a week of final exams, Storm King students had the chance to relax, get into the holiday spirit, and have some fun. It all began on Friday, December 15, with the surprise declaration of a Headmaster’s Day. All academic classes were replaced by various “headmaster approved” activities students could participate in throughout the day.

This year’s Head’s Day was jam-packed with things to do, some of the more popular choices: a trip to the New York Botanical Garden for the Holiday Train Show, a holiday shopping excursion, yoga, a movie outing, and open time in the gym and art center.

As the afternoon progressed, members of the Student Council rallied a group of students to help put up decorations in the dining hall for the Holiday Dance & Party which took place later that evening. Faculty member David Mendlewski declared it a HUGE success. He noted “that many students came. They danced, sang, ate, hung out and had a great time.”

Another spirited activity that took place this weekend was the traditional cookie decorating party held by Headmaster Lamb and his wife Toni Scherrer, or “Ms. Toni” as she’s affectionately known on campus. At 6:30 pm Sunday evening, Students converged on The Homestead, the headmaster’s new residence located at 6 Abbott lane. There, students spent the next couple of hours decorating sugar cookies cut in all kinds of shapes and sizes.

Please join us Tuesday, December 19, at 5 pm in the Walter Reade Jr. Theatre for our Winter Solstice Celebration and Concert.
