The fall athletic season is well behind us and the Storm King School Winter Season has officially begun! Boys and Girls Basketball have tipped off their schedules with their first competitions and the Cougars are excited that all of our teams will enjoy competitive schedules this winter.
Girls Varsity Basketball
Tuesday, November 23, saw the start of the basketball season with a Girls Varsity home scrimmage against Frederick Douglas Academy. The game started out with a commanding lead for the Cougars. Over six friendly quarters, both teams played a strong back and forth. The final score of the first four quarters was 47-22 in favor of SKS. The Girls Varsity team this year will participate in the NEPSAC AA Class, which is a significant raise from the D Class of most other Storm King teams. This change comes with the addition of Coach Jermaine Miller ’02 and the impressive recruiting and advocacy for the program’s development.
Boys Varsity Basketball
Tuesday saw the first date of competition for the Boys Varsity basketball team with a resounding defeat over EF Academy with a score of 89-32. The boys did not get much time to rest before taking the court for their home-opener last night against King School. The Cougars were again victorious in their pursuit coming away with a final score of 64-53. Jordan S. ’26 was the team’s high scorer with 18 points. Coach Lewis congratulated the team on their excellent team defense and positive attitudes.
