Their winning momentum continued in their game at Faith Christian on January 24, where a strong Cougar team outplayed their opponents to lead by 28 points, a 68-40 score, at the final buzzer. Moving off a mid-January win over Greenwich Country Day, the Girls AA Prep team was on the road to Winchendon n January 20 followed by a home game with the Hoosac Owls. The Winchendon game was tight, with both teams keeping the score close before Winchendon opened an 8-point lead late in the game to win, 61-69. “We let their pressure get to us. Transition defense was our biggest problem,” according to Coach Tang. Isabella S. ’24 scored 26 points, shooting 6/11 from the 3-point line and Marisa C. ’24 scored 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists.
Two days later, the Cougars tipped off against Hoosac where they played a good game, but ultimately fell to the Owls 29-57. “We did a good job defensively and following the game plan in stretches, but the team had trouble executing and fell to mental errors under offensive pressure during the game,” continued Coach Tang.
On January 27, the Cougars traveled to Massachusetts with redemption in mind to tip off against the MacDuffie Mustangs. A resilient Storm King team fought to keep the momentum going throughout the game resulting in a 4-point win, 58-54, at the final buzzer.

In addition, Emma Y. ’26 made her first ever throw attempt.”
On January 24, the JV girls traveled to Capital Prep Harbor where they suffered another loss but continued to hone their skills. Jessica W. ’27 had quite a few rebounds, and Ines V. ‘28 had several fast break layups. Emma also scored her first basket ever on a rebound,” commented Coach Sandstrom.
