Ross Carnes ’66 is being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame for his outstanding multi-sport athletic achievement and quiet, consistent leadership across varsity soccer, basketball, and baseball.
During his two years at SKS, Ross was a three-sport varsity athlete who started every game on the legendary 1965 soccer team—already inducted into the Hall of Fame and known for defeating three college freshman teams. He went on to captain a winning basketball team, serving as a steady team leader who elevated the play of those around him.
In baseball, Ross was a standout pitcher and shortstop, leading the team with an exceptional .571 batting average while contributing on the mound with a 2–2 record. His versatility and dedication were further recognized with a Pentagonal award for participation in five varsity sports.
Ross’s induction honors not only his athletic excellence, but also his leadership, teamwork, and lasting impact on Storm King athletics.
