With spring in sight and warmer weather on the way, The Storm King School is pleased to announce that our beautiful mountain campus will be buzzing with activity this summer. Four visiting summer programs focused on sports and music will be running from June through August, bringing diverse groups of young campers to enjoy our facilities and get a taste of life on the Mountain.
French Football Academy
To kick off the line-up, the French Football Academy chose SKS again this year for their summer training camp. The Academy is run by the French Football Federation (FFF) – the governing body of football in France. The camp has the goal of recruiting motivated young players based in New York who are looking to go further in their footballing careers. During each 5-day camp session, players will receive the same professional soccer training as they would in Paris, supervised by the Director of INF Clairefontaine, Jean-Claude Lafargue, and other French coaches.
Lyra Music Performance Program
Next up, the Lyra Music Young Artist Performance Program will grace the SKS campus during the final weeks of June. This conservatory-style classical music program is for string players and pianists seeking an opportunity to hone their performance skills in a pre-professional program. Students will focus on performance technique while benefiting from the unique experience of performing multiple times each week in a variety of settings.
New York Fencing Academy
The New York Fencing Academy is back again this summer with their group of international fencers to take advantage of SKS’ recently refurbished fencing rooms. The camp is ideal for fencers ages 10 and up and will focus on intermediate and advanced epee competition training led by world-class coaches from top colleges and clubs.
Bill Pilat’s Goalie School
July will be equally exciting for lacrosse players attending Bill Pilat’s The Goalie School (TGS). Known as “the best goalie camp in the country” run by Roanoke College Lacrosse veteran and coach, Bill Pilat, TGS will bring groups of boys and girls to campus for a 4-day program of intense instruction, drills, and demonstrations specifically for goaltenders.
Based on the growing success of visiting summer programs at SKS, planning for next year is already underway according to SKS’ Director of Summer Programs Ben Harnick:
“Next year, we hope to host an even wider variety of camps and larger groups of students who want to take advantage of our beautiful campus and facilities. We are also discussing some new ideas for SKS enrichment programs this summer, so I hope to report some more good news in the coming weeks about additional summer offerings.” — Director of Summer Programs Ben Harnick
