At the end of the 2024–2025 school year, recent graduate Patrick Ferreira ’25 wrapped up his time at The Storm King School with a project that reflected his values and compassion. In his final weeks as a student, Patrick launched “Supplies for Scholars,” a fundraiser to support schools in the Philippines with limited resources.

Patrick was inspired by his frequent visits to the Philippines with his mother, where he saw firsthand the challenges that students face. He shared moving stories about schools including Tabla Elementary School in Liolan, Cebu and Lanipga Elementary School in Consolacion, Cebu. These schools, he explained, often lack access to even the most basic classroom necessities. His goal was simple: to gather supplies and funds to directly benefit the students in these communities.

The campaign officially launched in early May 2025. Donation boxes were placed throughout the SKS campus, collecting pencils, notebooks, erasers, crayons, and other essential school materials. Patrick was a constant presence in the community during the final weeks of school—spending lunch periods speaking to fellow students, answering questions, and encouraging participation. His enthusiasm and determination were key to the campaign’s success.

In addition to collecting supplies, Patrick coordinated with the Storm King School Business Office to collect monetary donations totaling more than $550. These funds were used to purchase additional school supplies, further expanding the impact of his efforts.

Shortly after graduation, Patrick and his mother traveled to the Philippines, where he personally delivered the donated items to the two schools. He met with students and teachers, handed out supplies, and witnessed firsthand the joy his project brought to these young learners.

The experience was not just a fitting conclusion to his senior year, but also a meaningful beginning to a lifelong commitment to service and global citizenship. The Storm King School congratulates Patrick on his efforts which stand as proof that small, thoughtful actions can make a real difference.
