December was an eventful month at The Storm King School. Final exams, performing arts recitals, and winter-themed activities kept the campus buzzing, and cheer was abundant in the air.
The holiday season kicked off when students and faculty gathered for an outdoor tree-lighting ceremony held on Ledoux Terrace. Those who attended sang Christmas carols and enjoyed hot chocolate and treats. The sweetness continued when Chef Andy asked for the students’ help to create a magnificent gingerbread house.
A few days later, students in SKS’ National Honor Society (NHS) helped bake and decorate holiday cookies for the Hot Chocolate Bar available in Orr Commons during final exams. While members of the Spanish Club helped to serve the treats, diners enjoyed holiday music from around the world. Students also enjoyed a Holiday Movie Marathon with classics, including Miracle on 34th Street, The Polar Express, and The Family Man, among others.
The highlight of this year’s festivities was the return to in-person student performances in the Walter Reade Jr. Theatre. Earlier this month, the Winter Music Concert showcased the talent of our music students. To top off the semester, the community enjoyed a dual production featuring the Fall 2021 Fashion Show and a charming performance by the SKS dancers at the Winter Dance Recital. All three shows were outstanding compilations of student work that warmed the hearts of everyone.
Kudos to all of our students, faculty, and staff whose creativity, talent, and hard work have spread the holiday spirit and brought the school community an abundance of cheer this year!
