Each year, students at The Storm King School embark on adventures across the U.S. and abroad that combine learning, community, and outdoor fun. Over the School’s recent Winter Long Weekend, 46 students traveled to Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Vermont—an annual tradition and one of the most popular trips of the year—for three days of skiing, snowboarding, and other exciting winter activities at one of the East Coast’s top ski destinations.

Smugglers’ Notch is known for its three mountains, 78 trails, a family-friendly atmosphere, and ski-in/ski-out lodging. But for Storm King students, the highlight was all about the slopes, friendships, and experiences beyond skiing.

Antonio M. ’26 said simply, “It was an amazing experience and I hope I get to do something similar in the future.” For first-time skier Arina V. ’27, the trip was unforgettable: “Even though I was a little nervous, I really enjoyed it. The resort was beautiful, and the school took care of everything. All we had to do was ski!”

Jiann L. ’26 highlighted the mix of adventure and camaraderie: “We took group photos at the top of the mountain, enjoyed the pool and arcade in the evenings, and some of us even cooked amazing meals from scratch for our friends. We made Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes every night!”

Faisal A. ’26 felt that the trip “was a fulfilling experience that went smoothly.” “Rushing down the mountain made me feel relaxed and free,” added Annie Y. ’27. Luis G. ’26 also signed off on the quality of the snow and the food: “Despite the Antarctic temperatures, the snow was fantastic, and lasagne and burgers in the condo were yummy!”

Storm King’s annual ski trip to Smugglers’ Notch is just one example of the many domestic and international adventures Storm King students enjoy. From Peru to Iceland, Italy to the Galápagos, New York City to the Adirondacks and more, these trips allow students to explore new cultures, discover the natural world, and create memories that last a lifetime.
