It’s been another fall athletic season to be proud of at The Storm King School. All of our teams finished their seasons with outstanding records and valiant play, with three teams bringing home HVAL league trophies this year.

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER — Season Record: 17-4; 2017 HVAL Champions

The boys varsity soccer team took the league trophy when they defeated Marvelwood School 7-3 in the HVAL Championship Final which took place on Saturday, October 11. Right from the start our boys set out to methodically dismantle the Marvelwood defense, and powered their way to a 4-0 lead by halftime. They continued their momentum into the second half and cruised their way to victory.

2017 HVAL Champs

GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER — Season Record: 13-3-1; 2017 HVAL Champions

The girls varsity soccer squad shed tears of joy on Thursday, October 9, after a hard-fought win against Poughkeepsie Day School 2-1 in defense of their league title. Storm King led the run of play and possession throughout the game, but had difficulty finding the net. Playing with the tenacity of a champion, the team was finally able to score early in the second half. With less than fifteen minutes left in the match, Poughkeepsie Day leveled the score, but our girls never waned as they eroded the PDS defense. Regulation ended with the score tied 1-1 and the game moved on to two five-minute overtime periods. Senior Ariana Martin beautifully tucked away the win with a penalty kick in the first three minutes of overtime.

Andrea Gissel “Giselle” Morales Lopez ’18, Zay Megias ’18, and Savannah Buon ’19

“Tears and hugs were abundant after the match as we saw Storm King athletics at its finest. This was truly a testament to the values we teach in our athletic program; sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination. Kudos to coaches Barbosa and Kolach for another great year,” said Mr. Graziosi.
