Focused Riding:

Mountain Biking & Personal Development

 July 26 - August 7 | Storm King Mountain

Mountain Biking & Holistic Personal Development

A unique two week summer program for young riders that combines mountain bike skill building with personal development and academic support skills designed to increase focus, attention, and mindfulness.

Exercise and fitness have been shown to improve brain function, as well as attention and concentration in children. Biking specifically has been shown to have incredible neurological benefits.

In addition to the well known physical benefits of exercise, studies have shown that the biking leads to improved thinking, greater happiness, decreased anxiety and depression, and better academic performance.

Biking in natural surroundings increases such benefits, as spending time outdoors can reduce stress and decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as boost enjoyment and motivation.

Additionally, studies have shown that moderate-to-vigorous exercise, like biking, enhances executive and motor functioning, which are skills that are impaired in children with ADD / ADHD.

Focused Riding

Studies have reported that even after just one bike ride, students were less impulsive and made fewer mistakes on attention related tasks. Therapeutic riding, combined with coaching for executive functions, organization and time management skills, and mindfulness training, will help young students on a path toward success.
