The Storm King School campus was lively during our recent Fall Family Weekend, held on October 18-21. After a half-day of classes on Friday, parents and guardians participated in Parent-Teacher Conferences, engaging with teachers to discuss their children’s progress and gain insight into academic and student life at Storm King. The crisp fall weather and vibrant foliage provided a beautiful backdrop as families arrived at lunchtime, strolling between buildings for their scheduled meetings.

As evening approached, families gathered at The Homestead for a reception hosted by Storm King’s new Head of School, Lisa Shambaugh. Guests enjoyed light refreshments and had the chance to connect with fellow parents and SKS faculty and staff. Following the reception, attendees were invited to dinner at Henderson Dining Hall, which set the stage for the evening’s highlight: the Fall Music & Dance Recital in the Walter J. Reade Theatre. The recital featured impressive performances by our talented student musicians, singers, and dancers, showcasing the vibrant arts program at Storm King.

On Saturday, many parents returned to campus to cheer on the boys varsity soccer team as they faced Christian Heritage. Both teams—the Cougars and the Kingsmen—enjoyed the pleasant weather and scenic surroundings. The Cougars’ victory, 3-0, over their opponent was a great way to conclude the weekend’s activities at Storm King. With no classes scheduled for the following Monday, many families took advantage of the long weekend, departing after the game to spend more time together.

Overall, Fall Family Weekend provided a wonderful opportunity for Storm King families to connect with the school community and celebrate the achievements of our students in the classroom, in the arts, and on the athletic field.
