Three performances of The Storm King School’s 2017 fall production Almost, Maine, which took place on November 10 -12, got rave reviews and lots of applause and laughs from all who attended.  Seventeen students performed in the show which was co-directed by SKS Theater Director Anne Fulton and Karen Eremin, the artistic director of Cornwall’s Step It Up Summer Stage.

Here is what Mrs. Fulton had to say about the show: “The play, by John Cariani, was one of the most enjoyable productions I’ve worked on in my 12 years here at Storm King. The show’s structure of eight self-contained scenes, with two to three characters in each, provides 19 roles, making it very popular among high school theater programs. The scenes are both comedic and sad, revolving around the love lives of residents of a mythical town in northern Maine.

Casting the show was easy: it almost seemed as though the parts were written with our students in mind. Opening night was really exciting for the cast, since many of their classmates attended that performance. It helps the actors tremendously to get the kind of positive response the audience gave at each performance, but opening night was something special.

I never got tired of watching this show; there was so much variety in the stories and characters. The performances were some of the best our students have given. Our student tech crew, under the supervision of Technical Director Liz Connell, did an excellent job of creating the right mood with the set, sound and lighting and the costumes provided by co-director Karen Eremin were perfect for the show.

Special thanks to Alan Douches, whose daughter Amelia performed in Almost, Maine for his sound engineering. He is unfailingly generous with his time and sound equipment.”
