The 157th year at The Storm King School is sure to be an exciting one, especially when it comes to college placement. Every graduating class sets the bar higher, with nearly 100% of last year’s graduates attending one of their top choice schools. Building on this continued success, Storm King’s College Counseling Office is ready to kick off its program for students at all grade levels as soon as the fall semester begins.

Director of College Counseling Dan Constantinidi will be working with students individually and by class: “As always, the College Counseling office will be focused on helping students and families find the right fit for them. Throughout the year, I will be here to advise them as they research colleges, sign up for standardized testing, familiarize themselves with the Common App, write their essays, review financial aid packages, and anything else they may need.”

The College Counseling Office also has exciting events planned this fall. “On September 15, we will be offering a University of California workshop for the SKS community,” continued Mr. Constantinidi. “Representatives from UC Davis, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara will be on campus that day to speak about their schools as well as the general UC application process. We encourage all students, especially juniors and seniors, as well as parents who are in the area to participate.”

This year, learning opportunities that benefit students at all grade levels, with a particular focus on the senior class during the fall semester will also continue. “We have helpful workshops planned including tips on college visits, the dos and don’ts of the college essay, and how to curate a strong list. In addition, we are transitioning to Scoir, a user-friendly college counseling platform, that will utilize data collected from millions of Scoir users to help our students understand their college acceptance predictability and give them a tailored college planning process.”

Every year, Mr. Constantinidi looks forward to meeting our new students, continuing his work with our returners, and getting Storm King’s juniors and seniors on track for success. “As soon as classes begin, I encourage everyone to stop by my office or send me an email so we can begin working on each of your individual college journeys,” he explained.
