The 156th year at The Storm King School is sure to be an exciting one, especially when it comes to college placement. Every graduating class sets the bar higher, with nearly 100% of last year’s graduates attending one of their top choice schools and several moving on to the Ivy League. Building on this continued success, Storm King’s College Counseling Office is ready to kick off its work with students at all grade levels as soon as the fall semester begins.
Storm King’s Director of College Counseling, Daniel Constantinidi, will be working with students individually and by class: “As always, the College Counseling office will be focused on helping students and families find the right fit for them. Throughout the year, I will be here to advise them as they research colleges, sign up for standardized testing, familiarize themselves with the Common App, write their essays, review financial aid packages, and anything else they may need.”
Mr. Constantinidi is also planning events that will benefit students at all grade levels, with a particular focus on the senior class during the fall semester. “We have some great workshops planned for seniors and juniors this year, including tips on college visits, the do’s and don’ts of the college essay, and how to curate a strong list. Additionally, we will help underclassmen prepare for the new Digital SAT format by having them take the first ever Digital PSAT. The School Calendar is also filling up quickly with on and off campus college visits and other college-related activities.”
The first on campus college visits from Boston University, Vassar College, and Emmanuel College are scheduled in mid-September with a lot more in store. According to Mr. Constantinidi, these visits are open to all students and are a great, stress-free way to begin thinking about potential colleges. “I am very excited to meet our new students and to see where this year’s graduating class of strong, academically gifted seniors will find their next home after life on the Mountain. As soon as classes begin, I encourage everyone to stop by my office or send me an email so we can begin working on each of your individual college journeys,” he explained.
