The Storm King School community gathered in the Walter Reade Jr. Theatre full of school spirit to celebrate the achievements of its students at the 2024–2025 Afternoon Activity Awards. The ceremony recognized dedication, talent, and sportsmanship across a wide range of athletic and co-curricular activities.

Each sport or activity honored students with Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Coach’s Awards, reflecting both individual performance and team contributions. Additionally, the names of students selected for the All-HVAL and All-NEPSAC teams for their sport were announced.

From standout soccer and volleyball seasons in the fall to powerhouse basketball performances in the winter, and winning tennis teams and an entertaining stage production in the spring, every season offered highlights worthy of applause. The crowd also celebrated strong performances in fencing, lacrosse, outdoor adventure, art, and esports.

New to the lineup this year were Special Recognition Awards, including the Videographer Award, the Commitment Award—honoring students with zero unexcused absences across all seasons—and the Outdoor Adventure Award.

The final part of the ceremony was dedicated to announcing Storm King’s most prestigious athletic awards for graduating seniors: Pentagonal Awards, the Senior Scholar Award, and the Senior Athlete of the Year.

The prestigious Pentagonal Award, a Storm King tradition since 1953, is presented to graduating seniors who have participated in varsity athletics for five seasons. This year’s recipients exemplify long-term commitment and athletic involvement:

The Senior Scholar-Athlete Award is bestowed upon the male and female graduates who epitomize the ideal of a sound mind in a sound body. This year, the honorees are:

  • Yusei Suzuki – Male Scholar-Athlete
  • Emma Lewis – Female Scholar-Athlete

These students have balanced academic excellence with athletic achievement at the highest level.

Senior Athlete of the Year

The 2025 Senior Athlete of the Year is none other than Sagan Novesky. With participation in 11 varsity seasons across five different programs. Sagan’s name is synonymous with commitment and excellence at Storm King. His record includes:

  • 2 All NEPSAC team selections

Sagan’s leadership, versatility, and competitive spirit sets the bar high for future Storm King athletes.
