During the winter months, The Storm King School’s College Counseling Office is fully engaged in supporting students as they move through critical stages of the college placement process. This is an especially important time for juniors, who are beginning their formal college search, as well as for seniors, who are approaching the culmination of their college search journey.
Dan Constantinidi, Director of College Counseling, notes that this time of year is intentionally programmed to provide both structure and momentum for students. “Through our Junior Seminar Series, students begin building a foundation by learning about the application timeline, essay development, and how to approach college visits in a thoughtful and strategic way,” he explains.
In addition to the seminar series, juniors may participate in the College Visit Q Term in May, which allows them to explore college campuses early in the process. “Seeing campuses in person can be a powerful experience,” says Mr. Constantinidi. “It helps students clarify what they are looking for and begin making informed connections between their academic interests, personal goals, and potential colleges.”

At the same time, the senior class continues to receive individualized guidance as they finalize Regular Decision applications, navigate financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and prepare to make final enrollment decisions by May 1, 2026–National College Decision Day. “Our work with seniors is highly personalized,” adds Mr. Constantinidi. “As offers begin to arrive, our focus shifts to helping students evaluate their options carefully and confidently, ensuring they feel supported as they make one of their most important decisions.”
Excitement is already building for the senior class as Early Decision and Early Action acceptances arrive from a wide range of colleges and universities. To date, Storm King students have earned admission to selective institutions, art and design schools, and strong liberal arts colleges and universities, including Barnard College, RISD, SCAD, MICA, Arizona State, Northeastern, Brandeis, Hamilton, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Fordham, Rutgers, Drexel, Loyola Marymount, Texas Christian, Pace, with many more to come.
“There is already so much to celebrate, and we anticipate continued positive outcomes as the application cycle progresses,” continues Mr. Constantinidi. “Our student-centered approach is central to our philosophy. Students are encouraged to take ownership of the process by reflecting on their goals, engaging meaningfully with their options, and putting in the necessary work. Our role is to provide guidance, perspective, and support at every step so that each student is well prepared for what comes next.”
