Fashion Design

 Essential skills and techniques to design, alter, and create clothing! Gain insight to appreciate everyday, designer, and contour clothing, for their construction, design, and comfort. Acquire skills that you can use throughout your life!

  • Drawing Fashion Illustration & Mood Boards
  • Executing a Runway Show

Make

Projects include hand-sewn name tags, pillows, drawstring bags, fashion illustrations, mood boards, and a complete men's or women's outfit. The two weeks will culminate with a mini runway show at the end of the workshop!

Our scenic campus is located 55 miles north of New York City on the crest of majestic Storm King Mountain overlooking the Hudson River and surrounded by thousands of acres of protected forestland.

Dormitory facilities are clean and comfortable. Healthy, delicious meals and snacks are served in the beautiful Henderson Dining Hall. Students will also have the opportunity to relax on campus with peers, attend local festivals and events, access exercise facilities, hike Black Rock Forest & Storm King State Park, and visit the world famous Storm King Art Center.

Megan Liggett

BFA, General Fine Arts & Teaching, Maryland Institute College of Art / MA, Art of Teaching, Maryland Institute College of Art
Before joining The Storm King School, Megan taught visual arts throughout NJ and Baltimore, MD in secondary schools. Liggett has also worked for three years at Kent Place School (Summit, NJ) during the summer programs teaching a wide range of programs such as scrapbooking and jewelry design. Her teaching philosophy focuses on the artist as a scientist, explorer, and lateral and divergent problem-solver in the 21st century. Her artistic and creative ambitions include painting, drawing, sewing, sculpture, and installation art. Liggett received her MAT in Art Education as a certified PreK-12 grade art teacher and BA in General Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
