Storm King’s New Girls Cross Country Team Got Their First Ever Win
In an epic opening race, Storm King’s new girls cross country team got their first ever win in their first ever race at Faith Christian Academy on Saturday, September 15. Led by Coach Nancy Greenhill, the girls finished on top in the first meet of the HVAL season and established themselves as the team to beat for this year’s league title. Athletic Director Graziosi says “it was heartwarming when the door of the van slid open and I saw the smiles and the medals hanging around the girls’ necks. They were very proud of their trophy and we are very proud of their effort. What an awesome way to start a new sport at Storm King.”

Sofia Bove – 2nd place
Helen Shen – 3rd place
Sophia Tovar Monsalve – 5th place
Michelle Chen – 9th place
Angelynna Guzman – 11th place
The boys cross country team also had a great day Saturday, coming out on top at Faith Christian against five other schools. The Storm King harriers placed five runners in the top 11 and 8 runners in the top 15 to win their first meet of the season by a 32 point margin. Newcomer Kolby Braxton ’19 was out front, finishing third overall, with captains Lorenzo Pretto ’19 and Cem Taviloglu ’19 finishing close behind at fifth and eighth respectively. Coach Martha commented that “it was exciting to see some of the newcomers to our program put in such great effort in joining a veteran team.”
