Wednesday, November 10, was National Signing Day for high school student-athletes across the nation who were committing to play their sport at the college level next fall. This year, two Storm King seniors earned their place among this elite few– Sofia Bove and Carly Neville.
Sofia will join the Lehigh University Rowing’s NCAA Division I women’s team, and Carly will play NCAA Division II women’s lacrosse with The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights. The two girls made their commitments in front of their families, teachers, and peers at a short ceremony during the first in-person All School Meeting of the semester on the morning of November 10.
Athletic Director Dr. Nicole Cervantes said a few words about National Signing Day before Sofia and Carly penned their signatures: “These two girls worked incredibly hard throughout their lives to reach this point. It is an amazing honor and a huge accomplishment. Only about 7% of high school athletes go on to the next level to play their sport in the NCAA. It’s an elite group and on behalf of the entire community, you have made us all proud.”
Along with signing their National Letter of Intent (NLI), the seniors signed a document promising to attend the college of their choice and to live by Storm King’s values of Truth, Respect, Responsiblilty as a future alumni of the School. Congratulations to Sofia and Carly. The Storm King Community is very proud of you!
