Meet Ke ‘Dana’ X. ’24, a Storm King sophomore who is passionate about making videos that tell a story. As an aspiring young filmmaker, her dream is to study this field in college and later pursue a career in video and film production. For her ‘video overview’ assignment in Mr. Kiperman’s Video Production class, Dana decided to make a video poem documenting her trip to visit family in Seattle, Washington during Spring Break.
“I called the video ‘Antidote in Seattle’ because I felt that the city’s vibe was so peaceful and comforting in contrast to the excitement of New York City and everything that is going on in the world right now.” For the project, Dana wrote the poem which is used as narration, shot the video while she explored the city, then edited the video, still photographs, and sound using popular editing software. Excellent work, Dana!
“Antidote: Seattle”
From the hustle and bustle of one city to the rain of another.
Driving through downtown Seattle, what I saw was a drastic change; but what is not changed is the beauty of it all.
Looking down from the space needle, this rainy city has a unique charm.
The touch of the sea is sensuous, enfolding the body in its soft, close embrace.
Detached from the chaos of the world, away from the war and strife, I found my antidote in Seattle.
You can fall into fantasy, but never escape the reality.
