Teachers at The Storm King School are back on campus and busy making preparations for the start of school. To help them adjust, reconnect, and sharpen their focus after a relaxing summer, new and returning faculty attended a series of orientation meetings and workshops covering the latest in academics, student and dorm life, athletics and activities, technology, and CPR certification training, among others.
“Administration and faculty have been working over the summer to get ready for a great year of full, in-person teaching and learning,” said Assistant Head of School for Academics Dr. Tim Lance. “Our registration days are back in person this year which will get the new school year off to a great start. When students arrive, they will also be happy to see the resumption of our pre-pandemic daily class schedule and a full range of after school activities and sports.” Other surprises also await our students including new seating in the Walter Reade Jr. Theatre, a revamped look and a new air conditioning system in the gym, and a re-stocked school store.
A common thread throughout the week has been our teachers’ excitement to greet their students and begin teaching their classes. “We have learned so much this week, not only about our duties at Storm King, but about one another,” said Kiara Hallinan, a new teacher and dorm parent. “It has been a challenging week, and now I feel even more prepared to meet my students. As a dorm parent, I also can’t wait to get creative and make the atmosphere in my dorm comfortable and fun.”
Many thanks go out to this year’s in-service organizers and presenters, and all of the faculty and staff who participated. “With the positive energy and feedback I experienced this week, I’m confident our school is ready for a great new academic year,” said Dean of Faculty Jeremy Freeman.
