Spring is around the corner at The Storm King School and the countdown to receiving college acceptances is on for the senior class. The bar was set high by last year’s graduates who moved on to study at some of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities, and this year’s roster is already impressive.
According to Director of College Counseling Dr. Marti Kwon, the Class of 2022 has applied to a greater number of colleges overall this year, with each student averaging between 9 and 11 institutions through the Common App, the Coalition App, or direct applications. “A continuing trend among SKS students was to apply early action/early decision with approximately two-thirds of the senior class applying early to at least one college or university. We are pleased that the caliber of schools our students have been accepted to under early action, early decision, and priority application timelines have remained high this year,” explained Dr. Kwon.
To date, early action and early decision letters received include Cornell, Lehigh University, Fordham, Babson College, NYU Tisch, Boston University, Penn State, Union College, Seton Hall, Pratt Institute, The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), University of Vermont, University of Maryland-College Park, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin, St. John’s University, Ohio State University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and College of St. Rose.
“Students who elected to apply under the regular decision timeline or who were deferred from early action/decision to regular decision will be receiving their admission letters throughout March and April. The next two months will be very exciting for our seniors and us. As always, the College Counseling Office will continue to assist them as they contemplate their options ahead of National College Decision Day on May 1,” continued Dr. Kwon.
“I want to congratulate the Class of 2022 for their hard work, and I’m looking forward to the whiteboards in my office filling up soon.”
