The Storm King School traveled to Hyde Park, New York on Friday, November 3 with their portfolios in hand to attend Hudson Valley Portfolio Day. The annual event, presented by the Art Institute of Mill Street Loft (MSL ART Institute), was held in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home overlooking the Hudson River. At the event, our students had the opportunity to discuss career options and review their works with some of the most prestigious art schools in the nation.
John Carruthers and art instructor Tara Finneran accompany our students to Portfolio Day each year. The event is an extension of the work that the MSL Art Institute does in its pre-college Advanced Portfolio Development for teenagers ages 14-19, who are interested in pursuing college degrees in the arts. Classes are held year round in fall and spring semesters with two-week long summer intensives. The course helps motivated students to explore advanced art techniques, and strengthen their portfolios.
