What (and where) is Almost, Maine? Almost, Maine is a town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. And it almost doesn’t exist, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So, it’s just…Almost. One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, the residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded…and life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same.
John Cariani’s play, named after this imaginary town, is one of the most-often produced high school shows in the United States and with good reason. Each scene is a self-contained short play and provides excellent material for young actors. Seventeen Storm King students perform in the show, co-directed by Theater Director Anne Fulton and Karen Eremin, artistic director of Cornwall’s Step It Up Summer Stage.
Mrs. Fulton’s theater students, along with the Stagecraft crew, have been working hard since September on the production, sets, and costumes.
